In May 2024, CSSEA and the CSSBA reached an agreement on the allocation of Early Childhood Education (ECE) wage enhancements (WEs) that were made available by government through its Early Care and Learning Recruitment and Retention Strategy. Those benefit payments were available to certain early childhood educators from the last pay period of June 2024 through the last pay period of April 2025.
In recognition that bargaining for renewed CSSEA collective agreements will not be completed for some time now, government has provided a lump sum payment for the continuation of this benefit through October 2025. CSSEA will once again distribute the benefit funds by issuing a cheque that will be mailed to eligible child care agencies in the next week.
